There are two things that are preventing many marketers from making substantial income.
- Poor man mindset
- Misunderstanding the viral nature of the internet
First Poor Man Mindset
If you ask a rich man and a poor man the same question, you will get two different answers.
Here is the question? Would you like me to guarantee you a monthly income?
The Poor man will ask how much does it cost me?
The Rich man will ask how much can you guarantee me per month?
Next, if you write down this sentence below on a piece of paper.
Pay me $100 dollars and I will pay you back $1000
and ask them both to look at that sentence for 30 seconds and then you
ask them what were they thinking about.
The Rich man will say I was looking the the $1000
and yes by now you guessed it – the Poor man was looking at the $100
Now this mindset is very hard to change, and most never change it.
Be aware of your mindset, but if you want to change it you will have to work hard to change it.
Tip for today – no one is going to guarantee you that kind of return, however, entrepreneur means risk taker and many marketers spend 10 to 25% of their income on cost of doing business. And if your cost of doing business is less that 10% you are not going to make substantial income.
Misunderstanding the viral nature of the internet.
The internet is viral by nature. Instead of word of mouth – it spreads by ease of communication brought about by computers. People all over the world will see your posts on Facebook for example.
And if you are presenting something that your viewer wants they become interested and become a lead and maybe a sale. Next, they have a sphere of influence and spread your content to others. When you factor in the speed of light for emails and posts versus post office mail, you can see the unique nature of the internet.
Now, the key is you must offer something that the viewer wants. That is often overlooked and so many marketers use the throw it against the wall approach and see what sticks. And furthermore, that is why training is so important and training that explains how to prospect to those that are interested in what you are offering.
One example of the viral nature of internet marketing is The Thank You Connection. Frank Salinas created this site and he explains how you can get your ads showing on lots of sites without having to send out emails or click on ads. Click on the image on the left and take a look at the video.
The secret to the success of his site is that he explains how you will get traffic and also he explains how your traffic will grow virally.
Personally I like sites that explore the viral nature of the net like TheThankYouConnection.
Many years ago, I spoke to a list of top marketers and asked them a series of questions. The questions were simple like how many visitors per day do you achieve, and how many sites do you have a membership with.
And I was surprised to learn that the common answer was many more visitors than I expected and membership in hundreds and thousands of sites. Look at the bigger picture – they were achieving exposure. Once they had a product that their audience wanted they were all about gaining a larger and larger audience. AND THEY WERE LIGHTING A VIRAL EXPLOSION WITH THAT EXPOSURE.
Picture a pool table with 10 balls on it. Now hit the cue ball to hit as many of those balls with one hit. Think of the hits as a visitor view. Now put 100 balls on the table and do the same. The increase in hits will be more than 10 times. Marketing is like that.
